Iskandar Malaysia’s first esports academy is open for registration. So if you’re an aspiring gamer or enthusiast, why not take some classes to obtain your certification-level education and learn about becoming a pro esports athlete, a manager, part of the event management team and much more.

The Professional Esports (Dota 2) Athlete Programme is built for those who want to be esports athletes, streamers, coaches, managers and/or analysts. You have to be 18 and above and have either RM8,500 (Local) or RM11,250 (International) to join an 8 month program. Intakes will be in January, April, July and October.

What you get is an introduction to the professional gaming community, character development based on colour personality tests, team building exercises, and lots of accredited professional practice.

The Esport (Dota 2) Events Management Programme however is for those who prefer a more behind the scenes experience. With the same requirements as the other programme, you will learn about venue setup, event facilities and technical preparation coordination, supply chains and logistics, event execution, customer relation services and practical challenges for those in the events management.

Their team currents comprises of Kieran “ZergRush” Lam (Principal and Head Coach), Wilson “ShenGG” Quak (Coach) and Muhammad “Groov” Yusuf (Coach).

Now to be perfectly honest, whether this works or not, there are some interesting hurdles for this academy. They’re new, they charge quite a bit compared to other programs at the moment and their campus is in Johor. So do try out their free 6-day boot camp first, assuming you are above the age of 16 and have 3.5k Solo MMR or more.
