Asus Malaysia has recently announced their latest model of smartphones to enter the Malaysian market – the Asus Zenfone 5 and the Asus Zenfone Max M1. Both of these smartphones come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 CPU and an Adreno 509 GPU making these phones nearly identical. Even the ability to record 4k is the same, the only big differences are the camera sensors, battery capacities and prices. When talking about the price, it should be mentioned that Lazada is having some flash sales for the Zenfones.

The Asus ZenFone 5 (RM 1,299, pre-order at Lazada on the 4th June) biggest selling point is the inclusion of a 12 MP Sony IMX363 image sensor. Which when paired with some of the nifty new AI features, creates some nifty AI-enhanced photos with the dual rear camera setup.

Some other things to note about the Asus Zenfone 5 is the notched 6.2 inch display. Which for many android users distaste, looks like is here to stay. So best get use to it everybody, sigh.

Now coming to potentially the best budget phone of 2018, the Asus ZenoFone Max Pro M1. Starting at RM 699 (13 MP + 5 MP / 3 GB + 32 GB) the phone is quite the deal, with the other two variants costing RM 849 (16 MP + 5 MP / 4 GB + 64 GB) and RM 999 (16 MP + 5 MP/6 GB + 64 GB). That is unless you participate in the Lazada Malaysia promotions, which will see the two of the variants drop in price. Instead RM 699 (13 MP + 5 MP / 3 GB + 32 GB) the Zenfone Max Pro M1 will only cost RM599 on June 1,5,12,19, and 26 (every Tuesday) for flash sales. While the ZenoFone Max Pro M1 (16 MP + 5 MP / 4 GB + 64 GB) will cost RM799 instead of RM849, with the phones coming with a free exclusive skin/costume for Garena’s Free Fire mobile game worth RM 80.

Making this quite apt, as this budget phone can definitely game for long periods of times with its 5,000mAh battery. You’re probably looking at 11 hours of non stop gaming or about 18 hours of streaming YouTube or Netflix. Which means you can finally say goodbye to carrying a power banks or asking for one, which we all know can get really annoying.
