vir·gin·i·ty

/vərˈjinədē/

noun

  1. the state of never having had sexual intercourse.

“he lost his virginity in college”

The older we get, the more insulting the term ‘virgin´ becomes when used in any context. Throughout our young lives however, the term ‘virgin’ has been used out of context many times. Example: “Oh, he lost his Nasi Lemak Bumbung virginity!”. Virginity is not always about sex, but in this article, it is!

Before we move on, how about a quick look at how we can use the word!

Word of the day: VIRGIN

How to use it?

IF YOU ARE A : –

  • High-school student: “Are you a virgin?”
  • College student: “You’re still a virgin? It’s okay your time will come.”
  • Young adult: “Oh my god he/she is a virgin!”
  • Adult: “HOLY SH*T BALLS HOW ARE YOU A VIRGIN?”
  •  Old person: “LOL GG.”

Moving on, let’s set the record straight here. If you HAVE penetrated, been penetrated and/or stuck your willy in the silly, YOU ARE NOT A VIRGIN. PERIOD.  I’ve heard many excuses over the years on people saying that they are not virgins for some yabbity-bla-bla reason, even though they’ve taken it deeper than Estranged did with that dodgy con-chick.

We did it, but I didn’t love him. I just wanted to try it (sex) to see how it was. Because I didn’t love him, I’m still considered a virgin.”

  1.  Woman, that is not how sex works. If your lady bits have been visited by a mushroom tip, then YOU ARE NOT A VIRGIN. You’d think this is simple logic, but it really isn’t.

I think it’s also important to note that a hymen does not define whether a person is a virgin or not. Most men who are virgins have conceptualized the start of the art with a need to “break” the fourth wall in a woman. A woman’s hymen can be broken during physical activity that is not sex. Some of these activities include:

  • Horseback riding
  • Gymnastics
  • Hurdling (running and jumping over hurdles, duh)
  • Riding washing machines

These are but a few activities that could break a woman’s hymen despite having no sexual contact. In these cases, it is okay to be considered a virgin.

What is NOT okay however, is pretending to be something you’re not. It’s understandable if someone doesn’t want to feel left out of today’s judgmental society. In fact, with modern connectivity, sexual activity has become so normal that it’s more surprising when someone is actually a virgin; and if they are, it’s totally cool.

What I’m trying to say is that the term ‘virgin´ should not have the negative connotation that it does. Some choose to remain virgins by choice and that is completely fine. We all have our own beliefs and should not be alienated for it. It should never matter to anyone else but yourself. Understand the definition of the term and don’t pretend to be something you’re not.
