Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, Tesla Inc, and the Boring Company, who recently made headlines by producing a GTA-esque flamethrower, must be fun at parties because apparently he flew a Tesla Red Roadster to Mars in the most fashionable way possible.
The entrepreneur, who was first made famous for his success with PayPal, has always been on the adventurous side – and has a knack for pulling million-dollar out-of-the-box decisions, like that one time the Los Angeles traffic jam inspired him to establish The Boring Company (I wonder what he’ll come up with if he’s stuck in KL’s rush hour jam).
A Red Car for the Red Planet Test flights of new rockets usually contain mass simulators in the form of concrete or steel blocks. That seemed extremely boring. Of course, anything boring is terrible, especially companies, so we decided to send something unusual, something that made us feel. The payload will be an original Tesla Roadster, playing Space Oddity, on a billion year elliptic Mars orbit.
This time, Elon Musk goes full on Ziggy Stardust by launching a Tesla Red Roadster to Mars with Bowie’s aesthetics and glam. The Roadster was launched to space on what many may say, the world’s most powerful rocket yet called Falcon Heavy, with a mannequin named Starman, and David Bowie’s famous Space Oddity on infinite loop.
Here’s an animation video of the journey:
