Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise is one of the most successful of all time, and certainly a franchise with plenty of silver screen potential. After being stuck in production limbo for a time, the movie picked up a star actor and producer in Michael Fassbender, and finally, we’re getting the very first look at the live-action Assassin’s Creed movie.
Fassbender plays Callum Lynch, a man who one day discovers he is a descendant of a secret society of Assassins, who are at constant war with a faction called the Templars. He is then trained by the assassins by unlocking the genetic memories of his ancestors through a device called the Animus, which puts him in the body of an ancestor from the time of the Spanish Inquisition, Aguilar de Nerha.
Through his time in the Animus and as Aguilar, Callum is able to gain the incredible skills and knowledge to take on the 21st century version of the Assassin’s mortal enemies, the oppressive Knights Templar.
Assassin’s Creed is expected to premiere this December 21st under 20th Century Fox.
