Hari Raya, it’s that time of the year where everyone’s level of creativity suddenly reaches a new height. Every year, there will always be some new trend that just don’t make sense. Maybe they’re only doing it for some short-lived fame, who knows? This year, we’ve gathered plenty of products/food that people think are innovative enough to market to the masses, but we think it simply just won’t fly.
- Rendang Crispy (IKEA)
Why is this abomination even a thing? Rendang should be the way it’s always been, soft and juicy and the chicken skin should NEVER be crispy. Why can’t we all just appreciate our heritage?
- Songkok holder
This isn’t as bad as the rest of the list but still, don’t you think it’s kind of redundant to have a songkok holder when you can just put the songkok anywhere?
- Lemang Cheese
Why do we always feel the need to put cheese in EVERY SINGLE FOOD? Stop ruining our country’s food please and just enjoy it the way it is. Why would you pair something heavy with something even heavier? We’re not judging… but maybe you should rethink your decision.
- Tudung pocong
I thought hantu(s) are not supposed to be out during Ramadan?
- Black Panther Kurta
The obsession with Wakanda is real… While we agree that the Black Panther Kurta is kind of pretty, you don’t have to associate everything with Wakanda, you know? African people exist. Wakanda doesn’t.
- Baju Melayu Hipster
I don’t even know where to begin with this one. Again, the emphasis here is: everything traditional should remain traditional. Sure, you can modernize certain things but at least make it look presentable. Baju melayu ketat? Honestly, no.
- Hello Kitty Baju Kurung
It’s okay to draw inspiration from somewhere, but this is just doing too much. That hot pink is so blinding you might need to put up a warning sign before allowing anyone to look in your direction.
- Tudung Wig
Why is this even a thing?
- Tudung Elsa
If it’s cosplaying, then it’s alright. But for everyday wear, I don’t think we need this one for Eid.
- Baju Kurung Berbulu
2018 really is the year of feathers. But again, everything has to be done in moderation. You don’t want to look like Chewbacca on the first day of Raya. Trust me on this
