The Air Jordan 3 heralds a very important milestone in Michael Jordan’s career, debuting during the All Star Weekend at Chicago. The debutant of Tinker Hatfield’s legacy with Jordan, and a shoe that kept MJ from signing with other teams. Safe to say, the shoe had some pretty big accolades to its name.
To celebrate this incredible achievement, Jordan is bringing back the Air Jordan 3 Retro with original Nike Air branding on the heel, reviving the “Black/Cement” colourway, true to its original. The “White/Cement” colourway, also dubbed the Dunk Contest, comes with commemorative details such as MJ’s total score in the final round of the competition (147) and a red stripe on the sole signifies the free throw line on the same position that MJ took.
The collection also comes with a never before seen version of the AJ3: an early sketch designed by Tinker Hatfield, brought to life. The early design features a swoosh, NIKE embroidery on the medial side, and a red heel tab. Not everyday an early prototype surfaces into mass production.
