What is up with us wanting to do things in cafes now? It’s such a millennial thing to be doing our assignments, projects and work in a cafe.
In such ways, you can see how some cafes are making efforts to lure people in to do work and lepak. So, what makes a cafe good enough for us to call it a working space – to sit down the whole day?
It’s safe to say that you can easily find WiFi in almost every cafe now. We’re looking into affordable coffees so that you can actually buy more than one cup. Other than that, the number of power sockets for all the gadgets and gizmos and maybe some extra space to pull out a spreadsheet maybe.
Here are some of our suggestions:
- PULP by Papa Palheta, Bangsar.
They are known for some of the best coffee beans in town. It’s easy for you to find other places to eat as well; if you want brunch, there’s Breakfast Thieves right next door, and if you want a fulfilling meal, Agak Agak is right there too. Talking about PULP itself, it’s very spacious to work in with a team so it lends itself well to meetings.
Papa Palheta, 29-01 Jalan Riong, 59100 Kuala Lumpur.
- Common Ground @ The Row, Jalan Doraisamy.
Just off KL’s busiest road (Jalan Tun Razak), you’ll find this cute little cafe. If you love the city, you’d definitely love the vibe here too. You can find The. Co. upstairs, a co-working space where you can pay a fee to use the facilities. Quite a strategic place, I must say.
42, Jalan Doraisamy, Chow Kit, 50300 Kuala Lumpur.
- LOKL, KL.
Not too spacious but just nice for a solo work sesh. Be sure to find your spot in the early morning once it’s open. If you like to people-watch, LOKL might be the best for you; this cafe is right next to the backpackers hotel so there’s quite a lot of handsome and pretty foreigners to swoon at. *winkwink*
30, Jalan Tun H S Lee, City Centre, 50100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
- Sudo Brew, Damansara Jaya.
This cafe opens up from 10am till 4am. Yes, 4 in the morning. So, night owls – if you’re planning to stay up with some free wifi and decent coffee, this cafe is the place to be.
7, Jalan SS22/11, Damansara Jaya, 47400 Petaling Jaya.
- VCR, Pudu.
If you want to work with a view, this is the cafe to be. Surrounded with forestscape-like scenery in the middle of the city centre, this places defines the catach – concrete jungle. Literally.
2, Jalan Galloway, Bukit Bintang, 50150 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
- Quartet, TTDI.
Known to be your friendly neighbourhood supply, Quartet serves you a great working environment and delicious menu for you to drool on. Best part? Parking’s quite easy to find.
