Most of the late 90s kids grew up with memorable shows from Cartoon Network, notably Dexter’s Laboratory and Ed, Edd, & Eddy – but Powerpuff Girls were by far the most iconic cartoon of the lot, the creme de la creme, and the one that inspired a generation of girls to beat the damsel in distress stereotype.

After a successful run as a trio, you’d never have thought the creators would give the girls another sister to fight crime with. That’s not the case for Cartoon Network, who has been on the front lines of innovation in the cartoon industry as the likes of Adventure Time, Steven Universe, and Regular Show touch on modern, 21st century values that are relevant to children in the Internet era.

In a surprising turn of events, Cartoon Network announced the arrival of the fourth Powerpuff Girl – Bliss.

According to sources, Bliss is their long lost older sister who mysteriously disappeared from Townsville. Professor Utonium has been successful in keeping her identity a secret, but it looks like Bliss will be coming back to join the Powerpuff Girls. But that’s the only thing we know about the character so far.

What do you think of the new character?
