The Northern Music Festival has just released its second phase lineup after a stellar first phase that consisted of big names such as An Honest Mistake and local Penang favourite, The South and The Lowlands.
One of the newly announced headliners for the event will be none other than Malaysia’s pop punk darlings, Bunkface. The band first broke through the indie alternative scene with the song Silly Lily has been a hit among Southeast Asian music fans before really breaking through in the mainstream with Situasi.
Two other indie juggernauts will join Bunkface under phase 2 lineup, Bittersweet and Muck. Both hailing from the indie city of Ipoh, Bittersweet and Muck are considered legends in their own respective genres and scene. Bittersweet has been making a lot of noise with their new vocalist Hafizan, alongside a brand new album that was released this year while Muck returned to pick up where they left off with their first ever physical release in vinyl form.
Naratu and Kids On The Move are no strangers in the hardcore scene. Having filled up numerous halls at wherever they play, both KL based bands looks set to shake the island with ground-stomping riffs and beatdowns that will sure attract headbangers and two-steppers to the stage.
Johorean heroes Classmates, popular for their tribute songs to the JDT football team and P. Ramlee, will be bringing their southern antics to the north while Talitha Tan will make sure everything will go “okay”.
Phase 3 of the lineup will be released soon, who do you want to see at Northern Music Festival this year?
