Oral Fixation is back again this June with Muhammad Zhafir as the featured act. Oral Fixation is a monthly platform for new poets and veterans alike to perform spoken word pieces or other forms of poetry. Performances are not only restricted to spoken word as poetry recitals and monologues from plays are also eligible.

This June, Oral Fixation will be featuring Muhammad Zhafir, a rap-influenced spoken word poet who incorporates elements of hip hop influence in his storytelling. His style of lyricism focuses on wordplay and rhyme structure. He has performed his work on stages around Kuala Lumpur such as Cooler Lumpur Fest, If Walls Could Talk, TEDxINTI SUBANG, Arts for Grabs and Festival Boco Puisi in Ipoh. He’s slowly becoming an uprising voice in the local spoken word poetry scene, having been featured alongside acts such as national laureate A. Samad Said and artists like Altimet. He draws inspirations from his life story and his own experiences and is known for his uniqueness. Muhammad Zhafir has left his impact in both the local poetry and hip hop scene, placing 3rd in Slamokrasi and reaching the last 8 of Red Bull Blend 2017.
