Pop outfit Paramore canceled their Jakarta show at the very last minute, which caused an uproar among their South East Asian fans.
Fans travelled from all across South East Asia to watch the Tennessee-based band perform their latest set of material from their freshly-directed After Laughter album. Since morning, attendees were seen gathered at the front door of the venue at Kemayoran, only to wait for more than 6 hours to get the heartbreaking news when on-ground event coordinators quietly told a few of them that Paramore will not be performing and that a formal announcement was due soon. At 5pm, Paramore announced that the show will be postponed to August, which broke many South East Asia hearts.
The band confirmed that lead singer, Hayley Williams, was diagnosed with a throat and upper respiratory infection, that ruled her out of both the Jakarta and Manila leg of the tour. Williams have since apologised to fans for the cancellation, and has promised to return in August.

South East Asia has been a routine route for Paramore’s world tour over the years and this year wasn’t an exception. Fans will be waiting for their return in August, but seeing the disappointment of fans who came from other countries, all parties need to work better in ensuring that similar disappointment will not occur again.
