If you ever wanted an excuse to eat more than just one dish on the menu, then, welcome to the world of tapas by Tiki Taka. Nestled in Medan Damansara, the restaurant sits at the corner with a beautiful alfresco section opened to the cool night breeze. Boasting a very clean natural wooden design, this is a perfect place to casually hang out with friends.

The menu is slightly on the expensive side if you’re a big eater, but you will be able to pick and choose from multiple dishes as everything is treated like an appetizer or a side dish. This is the heart of what tapas are—you pick and combine your favorites to make your own customized full meal!

So if you’re ever in the area check them out. This is a great place to try if you feel like eating a little bit of everything with a good solid drink from a wide selection of cocktails and liquor.

So on to the delectable food that I was able to try:

Nutella Bacon

Nutella Bacon

Nutella Bacon (RM 6) – Nutella, caramelized banana, walnut, grilled bacon, truffle honey, blueberries

Sweet and savory, this warm chocolate pisang goreng inspired appetizer has bacon. BACON!

Salted Egg Crab Bun (RM 9) – Charcoal brioche, salted egg crab meat, curry leaves, bird’s eye chili, salted egg cream sauce

When you don’t want the full crab or the messy shell, this is what you get. A mini flavourful salted egg crab burger. It has just the right sweetness to complement the dish.

Mexindy

Mexindy

Mexindy (RM 6) – Grilled tandoori chicken, Mexican dry rub, yogurt crema, pickled onion, coriander

Compared to the previous two, this felt plain. The chicken was nice and tender with the Mexican rub, but ultimately fell short.

Non-Halal Drunk Rice (RM 15) – steamed turmeric rice, masala minced pork, garlic sauce, red sauce, coriander, pickled shallots

You can clearly taste the spices and herbs in the rice. A simple nice rice dish.

Pork Ribs (RM 22) – Spanish ribs, pepper BBQ sauce, lime

Run of the mill ribs, nothing great or bad about them. Hey, at least it’s pork!

Shaoxing Chilli Prawn Pasta

Shaoxing Chilli Prawn Pasta

Shaoxing Chili Prawn Pasta (RM 24) – Spaghetti, grilled shaoxing wine prawn, bird’s eye chili, cherry tomatoes, kaffir lime, parmesan

The shrimp was plump and juicy. It paired well with the pasta with an ever so slight taste of chili.

“Sin” is King Pork Pizza (RM 25) – Red pepper sauce, back bacon, minced pork, spicy sausage, streaky bacon chips, pork floss, olives, red pepper, mozzarella, cheddar, parmesan, onion, parsley

If you don’t like pizza, I don’t know you. This has all the trimmings a meat lover would adore without the overpowering meat taste. Did I mention bacon?

Ice Ice Baby

Ice Ice Baby

Ice Ice Baby! (RM 12) – mango, sorbet, coconut ice-cream, toasted coconut flakes, pandan palm sugar syrup, buttered popcorn, crushed peanuts, fruit medley

The best thing this place has to offer from what was tasted. My boss (Scott: That’s Matt, not me btw) and the girl next to him hoarded and finished the dessert by themselves when I wasn’t looking. The sweetness is not overwhelming as you get this creamy taste and texture to go with the fluffiness of popcorn. My boss could only say, “it tastes like heaven.”

Nutella Bacon Wontons (RM 12) – Deep fried nutella & bacon wontons, macerated berries, balsamic glaze, snow sugar

Not the favorite at first bite, but it slowly grows on you when you mix everything together. The whose sweet and savory with balsamic glaze wasn’t for everyone. For only those that like balsamic vinegar.
