Let’s make things clear, I’m not the most hardworking woman when it comes to applying makeup because I’ve always believed that going au natural is always the best though I am often guilty of doing what Kim Kardashian does with her “no makeup look “. I’m a fan of light makeup and that means no foundation, no concealer, no contouring and anything that falls in the middle. I do doll up my face every now and then like whenever I feel like going a bit extra with my #ootd for instance or if I was attending an event/photo shoot but that’s just about it.
Revlon recently introduced their foundation from the PhotoReady collection, the Insta-Filter Foundation, a next generation foundation that vows to make you stay away from beauty filters and apps such as Meitu , BeautyCam and Makeup Plus!
Well you may ask me , “don’t all foundations serve the same purpose?” Indeed they do but thanks to the formula which is equipped with high definition filter technology, the foundation captures and transforms light to create a soft focus effect when you take a photo! YES! You can turn off that ‘beauty filter’ option in your cameras now and delete those apps from your phone pronto!
I’ve had the pleasure of trying it out first hand during the media launch that Revlon organized with the help of Revlon’s professional makeup artist and I also put it to the test on an outdoor photo-shoot I have recently done so these are my findings !
Anything that’s in a cylinder packaging excites the hell out of me because I love how you can just stack them up in a bag. Amazing how they save space really! I find the bottle quite interesting as it has a built in blender that is shaped to fit the curves of your face so applying the foundation is not as tedious because you definitely can skip the process where you have to use a brush or blender to even it out. Despite Revlon’s innovation, some YouTubers seem to think that it’s impractical but I guess for girls like me who don’t really mind, I find it pretty cool.
What got me grinning with contentment though is that for a girl like me who is constantly on the go , I do not need to worry about cleaning the built in blender as it is antimicrobial! All lazy girls out there, you can rejoice !
Twist. Dab. Blend. Makeup shouldn’t be that hard ,am I right? Well, I’m not even the type of girl that enjoys watching beauty tutorials much but hey, applying a foundation is not THAT difficult to do. The first time I opened the bottle, I had a little trouble getting the liquid out despite my vigorous effort in shaking it before twisting it but after a couple of trials, I got the hang of it. Once I dabbed an ample amount on my face, I immediately blended it and let it oxidize. It helps if you shake it well before opening the cap and turning it upside-down when you twist it!
Coverage & Wear Test
The Insta-Filter foundation offers a natural matte finish and medium coverage so when I applied it , I don’t feel like I’m heavily caked up which can get very uncomfortable especially when I’m out and about doing my daily routine. It’s very light on my skin and I like the creamy texture that blends perfectly, creating a smoother, brighter look. This foundation is good for an all day wear and it is equipped with SPF 20 although throughout my use so far, it did last for around 10 – 12 hours before I needed to reapply . If you’re looking for a fuller coverage, this foundation might not be for you as it tends to run sheerer towards the end of the day. I’m not really a fan of full coverage foundation so I really enjoy using Revlon’s PhotoReady Insta-Filter Foundation. If you have dry skin, I would suggest that you use a moisturizing primer though.
I honestly love using this foundation so I’m going to be wearing this foundation more often and I can see this product in my makeup staples. I suggest that you guys give this foundation a try if you want to experience the Insta–Filter soft focus look for yourself.
