Last Sunday, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor attended a Hari Raya open house hosted by social media activist Daniel Goh and their supporters and friends, held at The Diplomat KL according to The Malaysian Insight.
Just like any party , it wouldn’t be complete without the karaoke session so after the merry making, Datuk Seri Najib got on the mic and sang evergreens including his favorite, Cliff Richard’s The Young Ones. The highlight of the day though was Datin Seri Rosmah ‘s rendition of Ed Sheeran’s Perfect, which garnered thousands of views online since it was uploaded and re-uploaded by netizens .
Truth be told, I am not a fan of Ed Sheeran nor the song and well, I have more reasons to continue disliking it because it makes me reminisce about my recent break – up and now to add to the list, it’s Rosmah’s rendition.
How did I even manage to listen to it more than 5 times? As a singer, I’ve got to point out that the song did not suit her vocal range and style AT ALL. I would actually love to see her sing more evergreen songs instead of ANY Top 40 song. It’s just cringy and we millennials are really sensitive to people trying too hard.
Netizens have also shared their thoughts on the video and they were actually more amusing than the video itself (you guys are savage, I swear). One netizen questioned her choice of song and commented that she croaked like a frog, and some even said that they are amazed on how her “fans” can stand her singing while one called for the bomoh !
