Who says Malaysian emo is dead? Kuala Lumpur based band, Carthreena, rose from the ashes of that stereotype to produce what may be one of the most exciting emo rock songs in recent times.
Carthreena, who just released their album Breathe For Tomorrow, is currently touring the country to promote their newly-released material together with friends from pop punk band, Scarlet Heroes. The song ‘Streetlights’, which features legendary hardcore vocalist Dean Sani from Kids On The Move and Social Circuit, is taken from their debut album, and it shows that Carthreena is able to bring their raw, early 2000 emo sound to contemporary heights and standards.
If the rest of the album sounds a lot like ‘Streetlights’, the emo throne may be theirs for the taking.
