If you have heard about the real life Gundam, now Japan brings you a real life Transformers! Oh Japan…what a great country to live in and when it comes down to mechanical engineering, they are the boss. The real life Transformer is probably one of the greatest geeky feat in a long time.
A Japanese company called Takara Tomy has collaborated with Asratec and Brave Robotics to create the Transformer-like robot, J-deite RIDE. The original cartoon, Transformers, was the one that inspired Kenji Ishida, the CEO of Brave Robotics, into the making of the real life robot. “So I grew up believing that robots had to be capable of such things, which became my motivation to develop this robot.” said Kenji Ishida.
When the J-deite RIDE is in its robot form, it stands tall with almost 4 meters in height while in its vehicle form, you can actually drive it. In the vehicle/car mode, it can only travel around 60Km/h. Amazingly cool right! The collaboration of these three companies is planning to mass produce the robot for entertainment purposes in theme parks or festivals.
